| Definition of artistic practice? | My practice circles around dance, embodiment, poetry, performance, voice work, and writing. Investigating the connections between the materialities and poetics of language, voice, and movement, my work is rooted in the lived experiences of multispecies interdependence. |
| Title of the investigation at the residency | Writing from/with/as/to/for the Landscape |
| Description of investigations and findings | In my work, I insist that the human animal is intimately part of the landscapes they are embedded in. I came to work further with my practice of writing from the landscape, to poetically attune to the different tempos of the landscapes by writing in/with/for/to/from them, listening to these tempos pass through my body and my body pass through them. My investigation is porous and intuitive, yet aware of my position as a visitor. I worked with the format of a walking performance and created a poetry zine. |
| What are you most curious about or invested in in your own practice? | I am invested in the friction between urban and rural. What might the rural tempo of attention be? What is the rural posture towards the world? How to look at the city, a bedroom, or an industrial forest as a landscape? |
| What questions did you bring to investigate and what questions are you leaving with? | I was interested in the friction between belonging and non-belonging: how to visit with respect? My questions turned towards the different tempos of the landscape, and how to write with them. |
| Transformative, creative moments at the residency | I remember being in my residency room, the west room of the house, in the warm afternoon light, and thinking about my work and how I could present it. Suddenly, it became clear to me how the house and its rooms were also part of the landscape. |
