| Definition of artistic practice? | The preservation of tradition and sustainability that is emphasized on the islands leads me to applied arts and crafts and increases the desire to upcycle invasive seaweed into yarn and weaving. |
| Title of the investigation at the residency | Co-creation - The Sea Hotel |
| Description of investigations and findings | The residency resulted in a conceptual idea for an interactive performance tentatively titled “Sea Spa Hotel” consisting of several distinct parts that will guide participants through a multi-sensory experience of the state of the sea. |
| What are you most curious about or invested in in your own practice? | Humor and bodily sensation connected with the factual state of the environment, which is the overarching theme of the project, have greatly influenced my further approach to the work. It is precisely this individual bodily experience and heightened awareness during participation in an unusual event that can lead to a deeper understanding and connection with the content intended to be conveyed to the audience, and to society at large. |
| What questions did you bring to investigate and what questions are you leaving with? | Water is an element that defines a geographical location as an island and is also the main "road" of connection. I will revisit the anthropological significance of water In a deeper examination of the state of each of the seas surrounding the islands and mainland, I will also explore the technical possibilities of seagrass and begin recording the visual aspects of water in various states (liquid, vapor, ice, below and above the surface, calm, storm, clouds, polluted, non-living and living water |
| Transformative, creative moments at the residency | The short performance of the Sea Spa and Hotel bar ideas (Ilon), the songs of whales (Emma), memory workshop and conversations with a biologist (Miller). These moments intertwined and created a picture I would love to support and enhance with my input. What confirmed the direction in which I want to develop the idea of visual treatment was spending time with simple, uniform natural elements – the surface of the sea, landfill on the coast, a meadow in the wind, and flight among the clouds. |
