| Definition of artistic practice? | My current practice is to twist reality and intensified it into a poetic visual expression: a scenic language of images and symbols that can be read on several levels and challenge the audience. I further develop a twisted approach to reality, turning the world inside out and viewing it from unexpected angles. |
| Title of the investigation at the residency | Flower Clown and Secondhand tales |
| Description of investigations and findings |
It was exciting to experience local folk dance, understand the complex history, and sense the island’s strong sense of community. |
| What are you most curious about or invested in in your own practice? | I am working in research-based, autobiographical and documentary performance practice in dialogue with other European realities. Our work twists reality into poetry between visual theatre, installation and audience involvement, with feminism as part of the artistic DNA. International collaboration is essential to our long-term investigation of feminine power in Europe: from post-war history to the freedom after the fall of the Wall and today. |
| What questions did you bring to investigate and what questions are you leaving with? | I came to explore local Bornholm folk dance, traditional costumes, and music. I also came to explore Bornholm’s history, including both the Second World War and the Cold War. |
| Transformative, creative moments at the residency | I went to a local folk dance event and had the opportunity to observe the dances, which laid the foundation for my future project. This was relevant both in terms of perspective and expression. |
