| Definition of artistic practice? | Filmmaker, performer and interdisciplinary researcher. In his searches are the reltionship between the body nd territory and the island identity from the Canarian experience with a decolonial and queer perspective. |
| Title of the investigation at the residency | Co-creation - The Sea Hotel |
| Description of investigations and findings | In this residency, the most important work carried out was the creative work and conceptualization of the future Sea Hotel project together with other islanders artists. In this creation process I was able to develop different aspects of my interest as a multidisciplinary artist (dance, performance and video) as well as find new codes and narrative languages to develop my searches. Contact with nature and the landscapes of another island, discovering different materialities and the similarities and differences in the ways of life of the islands has been inspiring. |
| What are you most curious about or invested in in your own practice? | Obviously, in this specific case of the co-creation program, the most important thing for the artistic work was being able to create with other artists from such diverse and different fields and backgrounds. This allows me to be able to approach as an active subject the practice of other artistic disciplines that have always been close to my work and in which perhaps I have not had the opportunity or time to explore, this makes us more complete, more capable and more empathetic artists. |
| What questions did you bring to investigate and what questions are you leaving with? | I arrived at this residence with a very broad outlook, many questions about life on the island, many interesting topics to work on and the big question of whether we would be able to define a specific project. In the end, this daily work in the community gave us the idea of working on the maritime context with a clear commitment to ecology, diversity and policies that are related to the sea. I return with many questions, much more concrete creative ideas of concretizing a new artistic project. |
| Transformative, creative moments at the residency | It has been a beautiful creative process, sharing knowledge through the workshops with the rest of the artists helped me learn about other ways of creating and producing, it was an intense and beautiful training. On the other hand, I had the opportunity to generate an artistic device that combined film on paper with sound drifts, installation and community work. This process helps me discover new working languages as an artist and find work dynamics to export to other projects. |
