| Definition of artistic practice? | I am a writer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker |
| Title of the investigation at the residency | Co-creation - The Sea Hotel |
| Description of investigations and findings | I have tried to document, film, the process, although that has sometimes meant not being able to participate actively in some of the workshops, but I think that my attempt to provide a positive and animated attitude to the ideas that were emerging has had some success. The island has impacted me in various ways, and I will try to summarize them by points: 1.- It has made me, once again, aware of what the maritime ecosystem that surrounds it means to the island. 2.- This week has been a reflection on how, despite geographical differences, we tend to suffer the same problems derived from similar historical, social and geographical causes. 3.- It has helped me finish a book that I have been writing for two years about the islands. 4.- The Bornholmsk dialect/language situation and the attitude of the speakers is a stark reflection on the pressure that cultural biodiversity rooted in an island suffers in the face of globalization. |
| What are you most curious about or invested in in your own practice? | A question that I always carry with me regardless of the objective of the research, I was interested in knowing the reality of the language spoken on the island, in this case Bornholmsk, a dialect of the extinct Danish dialect spoken in the former Danish provinces of Blekinge, Skåne, Halland and Bornholm. |
| What questions did you bring to investigate and what questions are you leaving with? | The issues that I carried with me were the sea, from the biological and human point of view. Our relationship with it, the reality composed of the organisms that inhabit it and the fact that the sea, a living organism itself, is what separates us and unites us as islands. I have expanded my knowledge of the sea, through the consulted expert and the knowledge of other colleagues, in addition to valuable information about the cultural and social state of the island. |
| Transformative, creative moments at the residency | It was probably through some of the workshops that my fellow participating artists did, but if I have to be honest, the entire week of residency has been a week full of information, impressions, exchanges, talks, thoughts, doubts, humor and work. |
